July at the Outpost

The record June rains maintained the lush green.  We arrived during the first warm spell of the year, the temperature reaching 92*F at the Outpost.  The coldest night it dipped down to 40*F.

Our goal for the trip was to have some fun, relax and tie up some loose ends.  The first few days we spent visiting local friends and seeing how their places were coming along.

A few odds and ends and some touch up and the exterior will be done!!!

The Yellow Dog demonstrates how to properly take it easy - sleep with your nose in the bowl.

I did my share of putting my feet up too.
The Mule and Whitetail Deer fawns are getting more ambulatory.  Last month you had to watch where you step or risk tripping over them.  The numbers of does with fawns seems to be down, perhaps it is due to the healthy Bear population we have.  Good luck little dude.

  4. I understand about the government. We found out we had been paying for 2 bathrooms, when we had one, and also a front porch, that we didn't have. They wanted to know what we did with the porch!! We told them it never had a porch, they said yes it did, it was right there in black and white. That's when we found out they had us down for 2 bathrooms. I made him come in the house to see...and told him I needed 5 years back refund.
    He laughed at me...but I was mad....dumb Government....debbie

  6. Mo, thank you for sharing those photo's. Your little cabin looks so warm and nestled in the woods. It looks great!
I hate dealing with any type of government agencies. I know that here the county assessors cannot put a foot on your private property without your consent but they do their fair share of driving. Im glad yall got to visit the Yonderosa. ~Jen

  7. Wonderful photos...I enjoy your blog very much. And I'm excited to see you built the EXACT cabin I have plans for! I also got the plans for a Murphy Bed 2 years ago that I will be building in my cabin, too. Good taste :o)
As far as drilling a well...have you done this yet? I don't know how feasible it is, but I'm about to drill my well within the next month and I purchased something called Borzit for $199 plus an extra bit for $40. Gonna give it a whirl, if it works, I'll save myself $10,000. If it doesn't...I can still use it to run conduit and plumbing to future outbuildings and my garden.
btw...the link is http://www.borzit.com I've done a lot of research on DIY well drilling and this seems to be the best way to go if going through gravel, stones, etc. There are lots of videos and how to's on it to check it out. I'll let you know how mine goes when I attempt it on my blog :o)
